Veteran’s service dog found dead hours after report of being stolen in Kansas

A disabled veteran in Park City, Kan. is mourning the loss of his service dog, “Red,” who was found dead along a Kansas highway just hours after being stolen.

According to a story published Saturday onKWCH News, Ryan Newell reported the theft of his service dog on Friday night.

According to Newell, the dog, a Doberman, was stolen from a Park City car wash by two individuals, described as a man and a woman, who were in a truck.

According to the Kansas City Star, the dog had been let out to stretch her legs at the car wash shortly before the individuals in the pickup, described as a silver Ford F-150, sped away with the dog.

Just hours later, Red’s body was discovered along I-135 where he had been struck and killed by a vehicle.

Park City police are searching for the occupants of the silver Ford F-150. Those individuals are described as a white male, approximately 6′ tall, slim build with a trimmed beard and a white female, approximately 5’4″ tall, medium build and blonde hair.
