Someone shot a group of outdoor cats in Louisiana. Some of the cats died. This one survived but lost an eye
Months after cats were brutally attacked in two towns in Louisiana, authorities continue to look for the perpetrators.
In one incident, which occurred in mid-November in Ethel about 26 miles north of Baton Rouge, rifle shots were fired at a feral cat colony. Three cats were confirmed killed, eight to 13 are missing and presumed dead, and two were wounded, a local animal advocate told Examiner.com Jan. 20.
In the other incident, which took place in early October in Clinton, about 10 miles east of Ethel, rope was used to hang a kitten from a tree in front of the cat owner’s house.
Although the crimes were committed in the same parish, they occurred weeks apart and do not seem related, said Jeff Dorson, who is investigating the case for Alley Cat Allies, a national cat advocacy group based in Bethesda, Md.
Alley Cat Allies is offering a $5,000 reward in both cases for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The group also set up a tipline, 1-888-6-HUMANE.
“We are outraged by these horrific crimes — and we know that many residents of these communities are just as shocked, just as outraged, and want these dangerous criminals brought to justice,” said Becky Robinson, president of Alley Cat Allies.
This is one sick person who needs to be locked up, no release. I hope whoever did these horrific things is caught soon.
